Server Options
You can choose between Hostgator’s Linux and Windows server plans. There are four plans under both Linux and Windows – basic, standard, Elite, and Pro dedicated servers.
The basic server on Linux is powered by a 2.3 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1220LV2 processor with 4GB of DDR3 memory, 10 TB bandwidth, 500 GB disk space, five dedicated IPs, and an uplink of 100mbps. The standard Linux server has pretty much the same features as the basic server except for a slightly faster processor – 2.5 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1265L. This same processor is used in the Elite dedicated server but with 8GB DDR3 memory, and the rest of the features are identical with those of the standard server.
The Pro dedicated server goes a notch higher in terms of speed and overall performance owing to its 3.3GHz E3-1230 V2 Intel Xeon processor and 16GB DDR3 memory. For this superior performance, you’ll part with $299 for the first month and $374 per month for the subsequent months.
The Windows basic server is powered by the Intel Xeon 3450 Quad Core processor, as is the standard server. The Basic server offers uplink speeds of 10mbps, 2GB DDR3 memory, a total of 500GB disk space split into 2-250GB drives, and bandwidth of 10TB. The same features are offered on the Standard server except for faster uplink speeds (100mbps) and bigger memory (4GB DDR3).
Both the Elite and Pro Windows servers are powered by the 3470 Quad Core Intel Xeon processor and both have uplink speeds of 100mbs, a total of 1TB of disk space split into 2-500GB drives, and bandwidth of 10TB. But it is the 8GB DDR3 memory that gives the Pro Windows server the performance edge it has from the rest of the servers. The price for the Pro server is the same as the Linux option.
